2024 Taiwan International Symposium on Coral Reefs

The Taiwan International Symposium on Coral Reefs (TISCR) is an international symposium on coral reefs organized by the Taiwan Coral Reef Society (TCRS). This year, it is hosted by the Center for Ecology and Environment at Tunghai University and will be held at the Humanities Building of Tunghai University in Taichung.

Event Description

Coral reef ecosystems are rich in biodiversity, have complex ecological structures, and are highly productive, providing crucial support for nearshore marine ecosystem services. As natural environmental changes and human disturbances increasingly impact coral reef ecosystems, researchers are striving to uncover the mysteries behind how these ecosystems respond to such influences. This symposium invites experts and scholars from various fields of coral reef ecosystem research, both domestic and international, to address the current status and challenges faced by coral reef ecosystems. The topics will include ecology, coral reef oceanography, taxonomy, coral reef ichthyology, genetics, evolutionary biology, microbiology, physiology, biochemistry, fisheries ecology, and more, examining coral reef ecosystems from different perspectives.

[Transportation Information]

  1. By Bus:

    Take Taichung Bus (台中客運) routes 22, 103, or 106 directly to Tunghai University.

  2. By CAR:

  • From National Highway 1 (國道一號), take the Taichung Port Rd offramp (中港交流道). Continue driving along Provincial Highway Route 12 (12號省道) towards Shalu (沙鹿). After approximately 3km, you will arrive at Tunghai University (東海大學).

  • From National Highway 3 (國道三號), take the Longjing offramp (龍井交流道). Drive along Provincial Highway Route 12 (12號省道) towards Taichung City Center (台中市). After approximately 4km, you will reach Tunghai University (東海大學).
